The RapidFor™ C. difficile GDH + Toxin A + Toxin B Combo Rapid Test is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Clostridium difficile glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) and toxins A and B in human stool samples.

C. difficile GDH:
Clostridium difficile is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, anaerobic bacterium and the main cause of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and colitis. The enzyme GDH is produced in large quantities by all C. difficile strains – toxigenic and non-toxigenic – and therefore serves as a reliable marker for the presence of the pathogen.

Toxin A und B:
The clinical symptoms – ranging from mild, watery diarrhea to severe pseudomembranous colitis – are caused by toxins A and B produced by C. difficile. These high molecular weight toxins are crucial for the pathogenesis of the disease.
