The RapidFor™ Crypto + Giardia + Entamoeba Combo Rapid Test is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of antigens of Cryptosporidium, Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica and Entamoeba dispar in human stool samples.

Cryptosporidium: Cryptosporidium parvum is the main cause of persistent diarrhea in developing countries. The parasite is transmitted via the fecal-oral route. Symptoms of cryptosporidiosis include watery diarrhea, abdominal cramps, weight loss, nausea and sometimes fever.

Giardia Lamblia: Giardia lamblia is the most common protozoan parasite responsible for severe diarrhea, especially in immunocompromised individuals. The infection often proceeds in an acute phase with watery diarrhea, followed by a chronic phase in which cysts are excreted. Giardia lamblia causes malabsorption and leads to weight loss and dehydration.

Entamoeba: Entamoeba histolytica is a protozoan parasite that penetrates the intestinal epithelial layer and can lead to diarrhea, dysentery and extraintestinal diseases. E. histolytica is the only pathogenic parasite of the genus Entamoeba. Transmission often occurs via contaminated food and water. Infections caused by E. histolytica can lead to liver abscesses in severe cases.
